Sir Bob Neill KC (Hon), former MP and Minister, and Daniel Greenberg CB, Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, will examine the constitutional relationship between Parliament, Judiciary and Executive, and the wider relationship in practice between the worlds of Parliament and the law.  They will discuss whether tension is an ineluctable aspect of the flexibility and fluidity of our constitutional arrangements, and how the different relationships can be kept in a healthy state while preserving the checks and balances necessary to ensure constitutional equilibrium.

Meet our Speakers:

Sir Bob Neill KC (Hon) was Member of Parliament for Bromley & Chislehurst from 2006 to 2024.He was Minister for Local Government, Planning and the Fire Service from 2010 to 2012 and Chair of the Justice Select Committee from 2015 to 2024.He also served on the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.

Before becoming a Minister, he practiced at the Bar, specialising in serious crime and regulatory work. He is a Bench of Middle Temple and also a member of the Bar of Ireland. He was knighted in 2020 and appointed Kings Counsel (Honoris Causa) in 2024.

Daniel Greenberg CB took up appointment as Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards in 2023.  He is a lawyer specialising in legislation and the legislative process who served in the Lord Chancellor's Department (1988-1991), as Parliamentary Counsel (1991-2010), as a consultant at Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP (2010-2016) and as Counsel for Domestic Legislation in the House of Commons (2016-2022).   He is the General Editor of Westlaw UK Annotated Statutes and Topics Encyclopaedia, and the Editor of Craies on Legislation, Stroud’s Judicial Dictionary and Jowitt’s Dictionary of English Law; and he holds a number of academic appointments and interests.

Cancellations: Where we have a waiting list we will offer your ticket to someone else, so please do cancel your ticket if you are no longer able to attend.
