Freedom of Information (FOI) & The Environmental Information Regulations (EIR)

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR) you have a right to access information held by the Middle Temple as a local authority.

Can I see everything?

The Freedom of Information Act 2000 and Environmental Information Regulations 2004 cover only that information produced by the Under Treasurer of the Middle Temple, and their staff, in their capacity as a local authority. They do not extend to information generated by the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple as a private body.

We do not have to respond to requests if we do not hold the information, the cost of providing the information is above the limit set by the government, the request is repeat or vexatious, or an exemption (FOIA) or exception (EIR) applies. There is information on exemptions and exceptions on the Information Commissioner’s website.

If we cannot provide you with the information we will let you know why.
