The Access to the Bar scheme awards funded work experience placements to students who are amongst the first in their families to go to University and are often from groups under represented at the Bar. Students can be 2nd or 3rd year undergraduates or postgraduates who have not yet started the BTC. The award constitutes one week shadowing in a Chambers and one week Marshalling for a Judge. 3-5 days experience is recommended but shorter placements are considered where suitable.
Students undergo a selection process by the Inn and receive a £700 allowance to cover their expenses, and where required will be provided accommodation by the Inn.
