Purpose of the fund
The Inn has a limited fund available to support those students who incur substantial expenses in attending pupillage interviews and are finding this financially challenging.
Funding will be limited to cases of particular hardship or exceptional circumstances. Each applicant would be expected to underwrite the first £200 of their expenses before seeking support from the fund.
Application
As we move into 2025, the Middle Temple is looking forward to the events and occasions to come – many of which will of course be documented in the Archive. So, to begin the year, this month we look back at the years ending in ‘25’ from the past four centuries, exploring the many remarkable events both within the Inn and in the world outside which impacted upon the lives of our members.
The fee for the admission application goes towards the Inn’s administrative costs. These include the cost of checking that each application meets the relevant regulations and ‘fit and proper’ checks and of the cost of providing student services.
The admission application fee to join the Middle Temple is reviewed annually and any change to the fee will apply from January each year. The current fee is published HERE.
The Inns of Court each offer funding for up to 5 of their members towards the cost of attending the Course. The Middle Temple will provide funding for up to five places on the South Eastern Circuit Advanced International Advocacy Course at Keble College, Oxford.

The twentieth century began with the death of Queen Victoria in 1901, and her succession on the throne by her son, King Edward VII, the Middle Temple's Royal Bencher since 1861. He maintained his connection with the Inn, attending events including the Grand Day dinner in 1903.

Juliette Levy was called in 1992 and practises chancery/commercial and telecommunications law from Cerulean Chambers. She has been a member of the Hall Committee since 2012, was elected Vice-Chair for 2013, 2014 and Chair for 2016 and 2017. |
This award is provided by a charity called the Knights of the Round Table. It is awarded to students or other junior members of the Inn (up to 7 years Call) who have made a special contribution to the Inn's work for its students or junior members.

Students pursuing a career at the Bar are strongly encouraged to, where possible, volunteer for pro bono services. These activities are vital for building up practical advocacy and client facing skills, legal knowledge and gaining insight into the legal profession. Beyond the obvious value of practical experience, volunteering will furnish your CV and enhance any scholarship or pupillage applications you will make and provide you with personal real-world examples to cite and discuss in interviews.
