Full Title: Nicola Mackintosh KC (Hon)Category: Honorary Bencher Bench Call Date: 27.11.2018 Bio: Nicola is the Sole Principal of Mackintosh Law, a niche practice specialising in community care and mental capacity casework for vulnerable and disabled clients in the Court of Protection and Administrative Court.
She is also the Co-Chair of the Legal Aid Practitioners’ Group, which campaigns for an effective justice and legal aid system. In 2016-17, she was a member of the Bach Commission led by Lord Bach, which recommended urgent changes to the legal aid system, and a new ‘Right to Justice’ Act.
She is a member of the Law Society Council and the Society’s Mental Health and Disability Committee.
Nicola campaigns vigorously for the rights of disabled people to access to justice. She has brought some of the leading cases challenging legal aid reductions. She was appointed Honorary Queen’s Counsel in April 2014 on the recommendation of the Lord Chancellor for her work for disabled people and wider justice issues. |
