Karen Ramagge Prescott read Law at Bristol University, graduating in 1987. From 1988-90 she practised law in Gibraltar. Between 1990-94 she worked as Crown Counsel in Chambers of H.M. Attorney General and conducted numerous criminal prosecutions. She also advised the Government on areas of Public Law and litigated to protect children at risk. In 1994 Karen set up her own chambers in Crime, Personal Injury and Family. In 1999 she became a CEDR Accredited mediator and Chairman of the Industrial Tribunal. In 2007 she qualified as a Notary Public in the UK and became the first woman to be appointed a Notary Public in Gibraltar, later that year she was appointed Stipendiary Magistrate, and H.M. Coroner for Gibraltar. In 2010 she was appointed as First female Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court of Gibraltar where she took the lead in the Criminal Jurisdiction but also does a percentage of Family and Commercial work.
