Full Title: Revd Hugh MeadCategory: Honorary Bencher Bench Call Date: 20.10.2015 Bio: Born in 1939 Arthur Hugh Mead was educated at Haileybury and, as a foundation scholar, at King's College, Cambridge.He was Lightfoot scholar in Ecclesiastical History in 1961.He took a B.Litt in theology at Oxford in 1966.He was Senior History Master at Karachi Grammar School in 1964 and 5,and taught at St Paul's School, London, from 1966-97.At St Paul's he was successively Head of History and, after his ordination in 1980,Chaplain and Head of Religious Studies.He published a history of St Paul's School in 1990.He was also founder of St Paul's croquet club. Hugh officiated at the Chapel Royal, as Priest and Deputy Priest in Ordinary to The Queen,from 1985 to 2009.He has been Reader of the Temple from1995 to 2015, where he has much enjoyed the traditional worship,the superb music, the friendship of many members of both Inns and the leadership of two distinguished Masters. In 1966Hugh married Judith Wigham, whom he met in Karachi where she was working in the British High Commission.They have two daughters and six grandchildren. |
