Sebastian Faulks’s novels include Human Traces, Engleby, Birdsong and A Possible Life. He worked for 13 years as a journalist for the Telegraph and Independent newspapers before taking up writing full time in 1991. He was appointed CBE in 2003, is a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and an honorary fellow of Emmanuel College, Cambridge. He is also on the Government Advisory Group for the Commemoration of the First World War
