Full Title: Professor Robert Hazell CBECategory: Ordinary Bencher Bench Call Date: 10.7.2012 Call Date: 27.11.1973 Bio: Professor Robert Hazell started his career as a barrister, and wrote The Bar on Trial, a critical account of the Bar written with young barrister contemporaries, including Masters Alexander Layton, James Munby and Nicholas Warren. He is the founder and Director of the Constitution Unit at UCL, an independent think-tank specialising in constitutional reform. Prior to that, he was Director of the Nuffield Foundation for six years, and before that, a senior civil servant in the Home Office (1975-89). He has been closely involved with the whole constitutional reform agenda, and is currently leading a project on the politics of judicial independence. |
