Masters of the Bench

Jessica was Called to the Bar in 2000 and on completing pupillage has specialised in family law. Jessica is a tenant at 1GC Family Law (formerly, 1 Garden Court Chambers). Having decided, as a teenager, on a career at the Bar and in politics, Jessica was the first person in her family to study for A-Levels and go to university.

Jessica was also elected as the Member of Parliament for Erewash in 2010 and served as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Attorney General, Dominic Grieve QC MP. After serving a Parliamentary term, Jessica decided not to re-stand to be able to focus on her career at the Bar.

Jessica has a long standing association with the Inn, since joining as a student. She worked in the Treasury office before commencing her pupillage. Jessica is an advocacy trainer for the Inn, teaching on the pupils’ course; for the students and on the NPP course. Jessica was elected a member of Hall Committee in 2016 -2018. Jessica is also a resident of the Inn.

Jessica is a Trustee of The Children’s Society and a Fellow of the Westminster Abbey Institute Programme (leadership in public service).
