Sir Mark has been the British Permanent Representative to the United Nations (UN) since November 2009. He has held such posts as the Director General for Political Affairs (2007-2009); High Commissioner to Pakistan (2003-2006); FCO Director, Africa (2000-2003); Deputy High Commissioner and Consul General, South Africa (1996-1998); First Secretary, Paris (1990-1993) and Second Secretary, Islamabad (1982-1985). His wife, Sheila, is also a member of the FCO Diplomatic Service. His interests include golf, tennis and bridge. |
