David Wurtzel was Called to the Bar in 1974 and practised for 27 years, specialising in crime. In 2003 he joined City University where as a Senior Lecturer he developed an expertise in the area of vulnerable witnesses through training Registered Intermediaries. He has co-authored the Ministry of Justice’s Procedural Guidance Manual and speaks and writes about the scheme. David became involved in the Inn through serving on the Hall Committee, various Inn committees and as a representative of the Inn on Bar Council. He has been a trainer for Middle Temple Advocacy since 1994. He serves on the editorial Board of Counsel magazine and was Consultant Editor 2009-15. He is now a Fellow Emeritus of City University and an Honorary Door Tenant of Red Lion Chambers. His civil partner is Robert Wilson. They live in Battersea and have a house in Normandy.
