Full Title: Miss Sonali Naik KCCategory: Ordinary Bencher Bench Call Date: 13.7.2021 Call Date: 26.11.1991 Bio: Sonali Naik KC is the child of first-generation migrants to the UK. She was called to the Bar in 1991. On completion of her pupillage (and not having been taken on for tenancy) she then worked at the Refugee Legal Centre (later known as Refugee Migrant Justice) and then at Tower Hamlets Law Centre. She returned to independent practice at Garden Court Chambers in 1999. Her practice covers all aspects of immigration, asylum and nationality law and public law. She took silk in 2018 (one of only 22 BME women at the time to do so). She has a long involvement in the NGO field, as Chair of the Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants (“JCWI”), trustee of Freedom from Torture, Chair of Liberty and a patron of Clean Break. She was called as a Master of the Bench in 2021 (delayed on account of the pandemic). |
