Nigel Poole was awarded a Queen Mother's Major Scholarship in 1988. He practised for over 30 years on the Northern Circuit, becoming Head of Kings Chambers in 2017. He specialised in clinical negligence and is the author of Clinical Negligence Made Clear, Bath Publishing, 2019. He was appointed as a Recorder in 2009, a QC in 2012, a Chair of the Bar Tribunal and Adjudication Service in 2013, Deputy High Court Judge in 2017, and a full time High Court Judge, Family Division, in 2020. Originally from Yorkshire he now lives in Cheshire.
