He was leading counsel in the Supreme Court cases of Radmacher v Granatino (pre-nups) and in Petrodel v Prest (piercing the corporate veil, beneficial ownership of matrimonial property, evidential presumptions and interpretation of the MCA). He has lectured extensively including as the annual Cambridge University guest lecturer, for the Law Society and also for the Law Society of Hong Kong. He is the co-author of Practical Matrimonial Precedents (Sweet & Maxwell), The Essential family Practice (Butterworths), At Court (FT Law), with his wife Elisabeth, Todds’ Relationship Agreements and was a consulting Editor of Jowitt’s Dictionary of English Law. He practises out of 1 Hare Court, Temple and also Temple Chambers, Pacific Place, Hong Kong. Richard is a graduate of Trinity College, Oxford. He sits as a Deputy High Court Judge and as a Recorder. He is married to another member of chambers, Elisabeth. Together they have four children, three dogs and a mother-in-law each.
