Masters of the Bench

The Hon Lord Ericht (Andrew Stewart KC) is a judge of the Inner House of the Court of Session (First Division).

Admitted to the Faculty of Advocates in 1996, he took silk in 2009, practising in commercial and public law and as Advocate Depute prosecuting serious crime.  He served as Clerk of Faculty (an elected office-bearer of the Scottish bar), the founding president of the Scottish Tax Tribunals, visiting lecturer at the Université de Lorraine, France and editor of Session Cases (the official series of Scots law reports).

He was appointed a judge of the Court of Session in 2016, and prior to his appointment to the Inner House in February 2025 was a commercial judge, judge of the UK Upper Tribunal (Tax and Chancery Chamber), a chairman of the Competition Appeal Tribunal and the judicial lead for the Upper Tribunal for Scotland.
