Bar Course Results Prizes
At the discretion of the Scholarships and Prizes Committee, Certificates of Honour are awarded to students who have achieved above 80% in their final grade on the Bar Course. No application need be made for these prizes.
* Please note * - these prizes cannot be awarded until all results have been received from the Bar Course institutes, which can be as late as December.
Until 2021, we also awarded the following prizes:
There are two competitions for Major Scholarships each year:
- for the Bar Course
- for the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) course or equivalent.
The Inn also offers scholarships for post-Bar Course placements in overseas jurisdictions, essay prizes, support for five places on the South-Eastern Circuit Advocacy Course (‘Keble course’), and a pupillage hardship fund.
Scholarships Officer (£32,000 - £35,000pa depending on experience)
The Inn awards just over a million pounds in scholarships each year, with the majority going to students commencing the bar vocational training course, some to students doing a post-graduate law conversion course, plus smaller amounts for ad hoc overseas placements, essay prizes etc. In this fulltime role (37.5 hrs pw) you will effectively and efficiently coordinate the scholarships award process from applications to interviews, right through to approval and payment of awards, keeping accurate records throughout.
The successful candidate will be tactful, diplomatic and have an excellent attention to detail. They will have experience of coordinating meetings and events including planning, support and delivery and ideally have experience of the administration of funding &/or scholarships, and working with financial resources and numerical data.
