Lawyers Who Care Project
Lawyers Who Care (LWC) is the UK's first organisation to enhance access for care leavers within the legal industry. They are an apolitical organisation, facilitating long-term mentoring for care-experienced aspiring solicitors and barristers. They seek to provide paid work experience opportunities for care leavers and erase the stigma of being care-experienced and believe doing so will improve the life outcomes of care-experienced people. They deliver training for mentors in care-experience and trauma-informed training, facilitated by their partnership organisation The Care Leaders. Beyond the support to offer care-experienced aspiring lawyers, the project also seeks to demonstrate to the profession the unique skills that care-experienced people offer the profession.
