Dietary Requirements

The Director of Membership and Catering chooses the menu for each dinner with guidance from our Executive Chef. On occasion, the Master Treasurer and Master Reader may decide on menus for certain events. One menu is selected for each event and can be viewed on the relevant event page under the Inn Calendar. We ask all attendees to indicate if they have any specific diets or allergens we need to consider. The Chef and their team usually prepare one suitable alternative for these requests.

Alternative meals can be provided only if requested in advance.  Please ensure that you provide the Inn with the dietary requirements for you and any guests in advance and no later than 09:00 three working days before the event. Members of Middle Temple can add this information by logging into your account and going to ‘My upcoming events’ and editing your booking(s). Members of other Inns, where applicable, can email enquiries@middletemple.org.uk or phone 020 7427 4800.

The following can be accomodated;

  • Vegetarian
  • Vegan
  • Halal *
  • Specific allergens

Please note that the Inn uses specific halal suppliers, which are often different from our regular suppliers. As such, the Inn requires five working days' notice instead of the three described above to ensure we can adequately prepare halal meals. A vegetarian meal may be provided if halal dietary information is provided less than five working days before.

When seated in Hall please make a member of staff aware of these requirements so that they can serve you accordingly.

Kosher meals

The Inn cannot provide Kosher meals but can heat them if a member procures them from outside caterers. If a member procures his or her own food or does not have a meal, booking a ticket for an event at no cost may be possible. Contact the Treasury Office on 020 7427 4800 to request this.

Attending events whilst fasting (as a student who requires the Qualifying Session point)

Student members (including transferring lawyers) must attend all elements of an event in order to be awarded the Qualifying Session. Events will invariably include a reception and sometimes a dinner. For this reason, those who are fasting may prefer to book events outside the period of fasting.
