Vacancy at Sequentus

SEQUENTUS is a not-for-profit organisation specialising in defending clients in professional discipline and student fitness to practise cases. We provide legal advice and assistance, as well as representation at hearings.

Established in 2022, we have continued to experience exponential growth and are now expanding our team with an opportunity for an early career lawyer to focus on case preparation, with additional opportunities for oral advocacy after initial training and developing sufficient knowledge of the various frameworks for fitness to practise in the health and care professions.

Candidates will have passed the Bar Training Course, or be about to pass the course by February or March 2026.

We are looking for someone with outstanding analytical skills, who is interested in developing their drafting skills, mainly through drafting university appeals, and submissions in professional discipline cases. The ideal candidate will have some experience of casework and supporting clients through the life of their case, rather than focusing solely on advocacy. This will be critical to supporting the work that our team undertakes and candidates should have excellent communications skills and a strong commitment to delivering the highest standards of service to each and every client.

No previous knowledge of professional discipline is required and bespoke training will be provided. There will also be opportunities to shadow advocates in the team.

The role is WFH/WFA, with some flexibility in terms of working hours, although the successful candidate will need to demonstrate an ability to manage their own time and workload as well as an appropriate an dedicated working space.

We may consider offering the role on a part time basis of at least three consecutive days per week. A minimum commitment of 12 months is expected, with an immediate start date.

In the first instance, please send your CV, plus a cover letter of no more than one page of A4, to Rebecca March - rebecca@sequentus.org

Candidates who could be a good fit for our requirements will then be invited to take part in an informal interview, followed by a more structured discussion with the management team.
