Vincent Coughlin KC is Londoner and law graduate of Queen Mary (UL). He was called in 1980, taking silk in 2003. Vincent was a founding member of Furnival Chambers where he developed a busy practice defending and prosecuting criminal trials. He has a breadth of experience ranging through complex frauds, international terrorism, homicide, corporate corruption, organised crime and appellate work and has appeared in several high-profile cases at the Old Bailey. He held door tenancies in Nottingham and Cardiff. In 2017 Vincent was appointed Chief Criminal Counsel at the Financial Conduct Authority. During his tenure, with an ever-increasing number of open investigations, the FCA now boasts an unprecedented tally of successful prosecutions and related confiscatory outcomes across a broad portfolio of economic crime, market abuse, money laundering and share fraud, including the ground-breaking prosecution of the National Westminster Bank. Vincent lives near Newmarket and enjoys walking his Saluki, playing classical and jazz guitar, horse-racing, sailing solo on the East Coast but most of all the company of his irreverent family.
