Bio:
Toby Riley-Smith KC read History at Trinity College, Cambridge. After a couple of years of work in PR for a charity, he studied for the Diploma in Law at City University. He was awarded a Jules Thorne Scholarship and took the Bar Course in 1995. He was a pupil at Henderson Chambers and has practised there ever since, specialising in product liability, consumer law, group litigation, health & safety, environmental law, inquests and inquiries.
He has been an accredited mediator since 2000. He was appointed to the Attorney General’s A Panel in 2012. He took silk in 2016. He has sat as a Recorder since 2019 (crime and family) and was made Standing Counsel to the Competition and Markets Authority in 2021.
He is a Middle Temple Advocacy Trainer, sits on the Scholarship Finance Review Committee and is a member of the Middle Temple Historical Society.
