Bio:
Leona Harrison is the resident circuit judge at Leyland Family Hearing Centre on the Northern Circuit. Appointed in September 2022, she previously sat as a recorder principally in Sheffield from 2009. She was appointed Financial Remedies Court Regional Lead Judge (Lancashire and Cumbria) in March 2025. Leona is a Trustee of the Middle Temple Charity and was elected a Bencher of Middle Temple on 10 December 2025.
Leona graduated from Manchester University in Law and Accounting in 1992, the first member of her family to do so, where she was elected president of the Athletic Union. Leona received the Jules Thorn Scholarship from Middle Temple in 1992 and was called by the Inn in July 1993. She practiced throughout her career at the family bar in Liverpool from India Buildings Chambers, Liverpool (now St Johns Buildings Chambers), particularly in public law and high value financial remedies work.
For many years Leona was a trustee of ChAPS, a charity providing adult and children’s services to people on the autistic spectrum in Cheshire. She was also a long term treasurer for regional FLBA and medico-legal associations. She sat on the Northern Circuit Race Working Group chaired by Winston Hunter K.C. and co-authored its pioneering Report in June 2021.
As a Regional Lead DCRJ and Focal Point DCRJ Leona enjoys mentoring aspiring lawyers and promoting diverse access to the legal professions and judiciary.
Leona is married with one son. She lives in Cheshire and enjoys walking, travel, theatre and music.
