Bridging the Bar is currently seeking volunteer practitioners to support our Academy 24/25 Programme!
Our Personal Development Workshops, also known as “Pod” sessions, play a vital role in guiding our candidates throughout the academic year. We are looking for practitioners to lead the practical sessions.
As a practitioner leading these sessions, your role will be crucial in helping candidates develop the skills needed for success in their pupillage applications. You will assist them in enhancing their CVs, improving their application writing, and refining their interview techniques. You will be paired with a small group of candidates who have an interest in your practice area, where you can provide personalised advice and work to help enhance their Academy experience.
An outline of the Practical Sessions of the Pod Programme is as follows:
Session A: CV Building Workshop (05.10.2024) - Practitioners will offer guidance on structuring CVs effectively and tailoring them to the legal industry, ensuring that candidates make a strong first impression.
Session B: Written Application Workshop (19.10.2024) - Practitioners will provide tips on how to write persuasive and well-organised applications, emphasising clarity, coherence, and relevance.
Session C: Written Component of Interview Workshop (14.12.2024) - Candidates will learn how to approach the written components of legal interviews, such as written exercises or case studies.
Session D: Interview Techniques Workshop (01.03.2025) - Practitioners will offer advice on how to effectively communicate experiences and competencies during interviews, as well as how to handle common interview questions and scenarios with confidence.
Session E: Next Steps Workshop (03.05.2025) - In the final session, candidates will receive guidance on planning their next steps in the legal profession. This includes advice on navigating the pupillage application process, building a professional network, and setting career goals.
If you are interested in contributing to this initiative, we would greatly appreciate it if you could sign up here.
