  of American Independence on 4 July 1776. Members 
 of the Middle Temple played a significant role in 
 this historic event and in the years which surroun
 ded it\, but the Inn’s American connections predat
 e this by many centuries and endure to this day.</
 p>\n \n <p>Join us in the Library to hear members 
 of the Inn perform readings from material held wit
 hin the Inn’s collections and from letters written
  by Middle Templars involved in the American Revol
 ution\, selected and introduced by the Master of t
 he Archive\, Master&nbsp\;Patric&nbsp\;Dickinson.<
 /p>\n \n <p>There will also be an opportunity\, ov
 er drinks\, to view the exhibition\,&nbsp\;<em>Lon
 don\, Law &amp\; Liberty? Middle Temple and the US
 A: 250 Years of Independence</em>\, which explores
  the Inn’s long and often complex relationship wit
 h the United States\, from the pivotal moment of M
 agna Carta to the intertwined histories of empire\
 , education\, revolution and the ongoing importanc

 ating to colonialism\, enslavement and violence ag
 ainst Indigenous communities. While outmoded termi
